Position Overview: 

We are seeking a reliable and motivated individual to provide support to our Heavy Equipment Mechanic in the repair, service, and maintenance of construction and industrial equipment. This role is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and interested in developing hands-on skills in heavy equipment repair. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Assistant will perform routine tasks, assist with diagnostic and repair work, and help ensure the shop/field environment runs smoothly and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities:

· Assist mechanics with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, and trucks.

· Prepare work areas by gathering tools, equipment, and materials needed for scheduled jobs.

· Perform basic service tasks such as changing oil, replacing filters, lubricating equipment, checking fluid levels, and cleaning parts.

· Help troubleshoot mechanical issues under supervision.

· Operate shop tools, power tools, and lifting equipment safely and effectively.

· Maintain a clean and organized shop/worksite; ensure tools and equipment are properly stored.

· Transport parts, tools, and supplies as needed.

· Follow safety procedures and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

· Support recordkeeping of repairs, maintenance logs, and parts usage.

· Perform other duties as assigned by the lead mechanic or supervisor.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or mechanical coursework a plus.

· Previous experience in a mechanic shop, construction, or equipment repair environment preferred but not required.

· Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, or diesel engines is an advantage.

· Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely.

· Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to follow directions.

· Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in varied weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.

· Valid driver's license with a clean record preferred.


Compensation: $24/hr
