The Installation Technician level 2 position is the primary installation worker on the installation of DAS and/or Structured cabling team in the field, and may specialize in DAS / Structured Cabling, or both. To be in this position the individual applying or being promoted should be knowledgeable in the processes and techniques to complete the construction and testing of the systems being installed and have thorough understanding of the MIS standards. Upon placement into this position the candidate is required to have 1 year in the industry and be capable of all requirements outlined in the installation Technician 1 position.
Responsibilities:
o Follow the direction of the Installation Technician level 3 and Construction Project Manager
o Instrumental team player of Install team installing coax, Cat5/6, and fiber cable Antennas and Equipment as directed.
o Competent at pulling Coax, Fiber, and Category cable.
o Proficient at Coax and Category Cable Termination
o Familiarity with Fusion splicing and fiber optic testing practices
o Instrumental in training and supporting level 1 technicians.
o Being capable of documentation of site walks for use in bidding process
o Basic computer skills, basic Excel skills
o Basic understanding of, cable sweep test equipment and processes, and Cat 5/6 testing
o Understand common frequency bands, protocols and terminology.
o Thorough understanding of NFPA / IFC code as it pertains to the installations being performed.
o Competent at collecting information for closeout packages.
