Purpose:
The Directional Drill Locator is responsible for tasks associated with the location and placement of underground telecommunications.

Responsibilities:

  • Reads and interprets utility maps and uses a utility locator to detect, locate, and accurately mark, the location of underground utilities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • In conjunction with other authorities (811), verifies and confirms locations of existing facilities.
  • Prepares for new installations.
  • Creates and supplies necessary documentation.
  • Moves or removes underground wire/cable.
  • Performs construction work, such as hand digging holes, placing poles, laying cable in the ground, unreeling, pulling and stringing wire and cable, and backfilling.
  • Completes and submits reporting, such as Bore Logs, Redlines, and Sequential.
  • Communicates with customers and other employees to help maintain safety and to communicate job status and issues.
  • Inspects and maintains machinery (greasing, fueling).
  • All other duties as required.
Education/ Training:
  • High School graduate or equivalent, required.
  • Knowledgeable of soil conditions and mixing drill mud.
  • Knowledge of utility depths and placements.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints.
  • Able to operate numerous equipment (such as tampers, jackhammers, drills and saws, skid steers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, etc.).
  • Clean and current driver's license in the applying State.
  • Fiber experience 
  • AT Rig/ Vermeer
  • 3+ Years of general construction experience, required, preferably involving directional drilling.
  • Knowledgeable to assist or act in the capacity as a Directional Drilling Operator, preferred.

Compensation: $25-28/hr
